3D Wireframe Map

To access this screen:

  • The 3D panel is part of the Mapping task bar. It only appears if a wireframe map is selected.

The 3D screen lets you format the display of the current wireframe map and clip it using plane-based or string-based commands.

Activity steps:

  1. Load a wireframe map.

  2. Display the Mapping Task Bar.

  3. Click the 3D tab.

  4. Configure the display of the wireframe map:

    • If Show Overlay is checked, the wireframe map displays according to other settings on this screen.

    • If Show Overlay is unchecked, the wireframe map's overlay is hidden. This doesn't unload data but instead hides the map from view. This may be useful to get a clearer view of other map features.

  5. Configure the texturing of the wireframe map:

    • If Texture is checked, and a texture exists for the loaded map, the texture displays.

    • If Texture is unchecked, the wireframe map displays in a solid colour.

  6. Choose if the wireframe updates according to changes to the virtual light sources in your 3D scene.

    • If Unlit is checked, the Wireframe is 'flat' rendered and displayed with the base underlying colour or texture shown without any positional lighting effect.

    • If Unlit is unchecked, light is rendered according to the position and settings of all available light sources.

  7. To clip the displayed wireframe map:

    • Click Clip by Plane to run wireframe-split ("spli").

    • Click Clip by String to run wireframe-split-string ("spbs").

    • Complete the selected command to clip the active wireframe map.

  8. To unload the wireframe map and remove it from the current database, click Delete.

Warning: You will need to confirm this, as it can't be undone, other than by recreating the wireframe map.
